Eastern Hills Certificate II Hospitality Students make us Proud ......

Eastern Hills Certificate II Hospitality class did our school and their teacher very proud today.
7 students assisted Chef Giovanni and the Slow food movement Swan Valley chapter at the Gidgegannup small field farm day cooking a 4 course lunch for 60 people and running the rescue fruit slushee bike.
They show cased their finest hospitality skills, both front and back of house and received the warmest round of applause from the guests.

Well done ladies.

National Reconciliation Week runs annually from 27 May – 3 June

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Eastern Hills Senior High School is committed to Reconciliation. We will be launching our own Reconciliation Action Plan within the next few months.

On Monday the 20th May Ms Jennifer Pearson from the Australian Association for Environmental Education joined visitors, staff and students to plant a Bush Tucker Garden a EHSHS. It was a resounding success, we planted over 50 plants. The Bush Tucker Garden is one way that we are recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture in the spirit of Reconciliation.

We would like to thank Marsia Daniels for coming she was able to join her children Max and Abbey on the day. Also a big thank you to all the staff and students who took part. Below are links to Reconciliation Australia and Tucker Bush an amazing website with lots of ideas and recipes.
