Year 7/8 Perth Scorchers Girls Cricket Update ...

This weeks cricket action saw the Year 7/8 Perth Scorchers Girls Cricket team play against Kent St Red and Kent St Blue in a double header on Wednesday afternoon. The pitch was prepared and the marquees set up for what was to be an excellent afternoon of cricket. In front of a packed crowd of parents, supporters, teachers and students the team took on the previously undefeated Kent St Red. The girls batted first and made a respectable total of 8/133. The team need to bowl and field at a high level to keep the talented Kent St Red from reaching their total. The girls bowled exceptionally well only bowling 8 wides for the entire innings to restrict Kent St Red to 10/110 and securing the victory. In the second game against Kent St Blue the team fielded first and kept the visiting team to 9/120. The girls needed to bat well to chance down the target and despite a slow start with the bat the team managed to over take the total and finish the game on 5/142. All girls contributed positively to the teams success but some highlights from the day were: Game 1 vs Kent St Red Belinda Taffs – 2 for 3 Evangaline Cowie – 2 for 0 Amber McCarten – 10 runs Tayla Boros – 11 runs Game 2 vs Kent St Blue Belinda Taffs – 2 for 10 Tayla Boros – 2 for 10 Makayla Hendry – 24 runs Tamika Exell – 10 runs Tayla Boros – 10 runs Next weeks game will be against La Salle on the school oval, starting time is still being confirmed and I will let everyone know as soon as possible.
